OH WHAT A GREAT SUBJECT. So in this time of the year is when we are full of scary videos all over Youtube, full of parties and disguises for Halloween, but the best part of this month is T.V.! So many cult horror classics THE WHOLE MONTH.
The problem is that scary movies are not getting better with time. Since we were introduced with the found footage movies in 1999's Blair Witch Project this kind of movies were getting kind of the same, but it wasn't like that until 2007 when some guys decided to make a movie called... you guessed it, Paranormal Activity -how does this movies are still in here? Eight years watching the same stuff-, this movie was the bomb in a time were we couldn't find GOOD scary/horror movies, like really there were some movies but they were cheesy,
Remakes?
You know, we don't actually need remakes for this kind of movies and sometimes directors don't actually don't get that and it's annoying, BUT, there is one exception. Let me introduce two of my favorite remakes of all time.
OH SWEET MOTHER OF REMAKES...
*2006's The Hill Have Eyes
So yeah twenty years after the original Wes Craven's masterpiece someone decided to make an honorable remake of this. It had everything from new things to old things, watching this was beautiful for my EYES -UHHHHHHHHMMMMM FUNNY JOKE- because it was like saying an actual version of the movie. If you have a time to see it, watch it no matter what.
*2013's Evil Dead
By far one of the best remakes of ALL TIME, Evil Dead was more a reboot than a remake, the same premise and a lot of changes. So take a time and watch the original Evil Dead then this and it's a completely different mood, that's because the original one was like a comedy at the same time and the remake was serious, was the real thing.
Escaping from the same sub-genre.
So as I told you in the beginning there was a time when horror movies were just... FOUND FOOTAGE. So we got tired after a couple of years about that and guess what... FROM THE SAME GUYS THAT BROUGHT US THE SAME MOVIE FOR 8 YEARS COMES...
This movie... it is simply a good movie of spirits and ghosts and no "based on true story" stuff. Like really, we didn't have this kind of movies since Poltergeist.
Classics.
So this last part I will make it mostly to recommend movies that are my personal favorite.
*A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
*The Thing (1981)
*Halloween (1978)
*Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Thanks for joining me in this awesome post, so, have a nice day.
-José Galo.
